"Regular" Books

The library has a good collection of books in the field of psychology, selected by faculty members over the years. You can access this collection by looking in I-Link, our online catalog, accessible from the Library homepage. You can search by words or phrases as well as by author, title or subject. Circulating books are located on the second floor of the Library.  Books available at other libraries can be found by consulting WorldCat, an international union catalog.

Psychology Indexes and Databases

The following indexes are accessible from the Library's Indexes & Databases web page:

PsycINFO (1872-present)
The premier psychology database!  Contains citations and summaries of journal articles (with some available full text); citations to book chapters, books, technical reports, and dissertations, all in the field of psychology, are also included. Journal coverage, spanning 1872-present, includes international material selected from more than 1,900 periodicals written in over 25 languages. Current chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English-language material published from 1987-present.

PsycArticles (1988-present)
A searchable database of over 30,000 full-text articles from 50 journals and chapters published by the American Psychological Association, the APA Educational Publishing Foundation, the Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe & Huber.

Social Sciences Full Text (1983-present)
Bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from more than 500 English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere, and offers the full text of over 100 of those periodicals (for recent years). Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields covered in a broad array of social sciences journals. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles.

ERIC (1966-present)
Provides citation and abstract information from nearly 1000 educational journals, books, theses, curricula, conference papers, and standards and guidelines from the Educational Resource Information Center and educational symposium report literature.  Also includes full-text digests on education topics.

PubMed (1966-present)
The National Library of Medicine bibliographic database, covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and healthcare. It includes bibliographic citations and author abstracts from nearly 4000 current biomedical journals published in the U.S. and 70 foreign countries. The file contains over 11 million records dating back to 1966. Coverage is international, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts.

Sociological Abstracts (1963-present)
Abstracts and indexes the international literature in sociology and related disciplines. The database provides abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews from over 1,700 journals, and also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference papers.

Infotrac's Expanded Academic Index, EBSCOHost's Academic Search Elite, Lexis-Nexis Academic, and ProQuest's Research Library are among the general periodicals indexes which are available from the Library's Indexes & Databases page. Each cover some psychology journals, as well as general interest publications, and provide access to articles in full text.
