The University of Texas at Austin's gateway to "Internet-based information to, from, or on Latin America," in existence since 1992. Free access to Spanish language newspapers in the U.S. is available on their News page, at http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/region/news (scroll to the bottom).

Ethnic NewsWatch. Available through EbscoHost at http://www.epnet.com/ehost/login.html (on-campus access only). A full text database of newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press, going back to the 1980s in some cases. You can limit your search to specific ethnic groups, publication names, publication type, and language.

Hispanic Online. http://www.hisp.com
Based on Hispanic Magazine (a national monthly magazine for and about Latinos, with a circulation of 250,000), this web site offers information about news, events, and issues of interest to the Latino community in the U.S., as well as chat rooms and message boards. The web site is searchable, and back issues are available online.

La Opinion Digital. http://www.laopinion.com
The online version of La Opinion, a Spanish language newspaper based in Los Angeles that has been in business for 73 years. Searching for a word or phrase will give you access to archived issues.

A commercially supported web site which strives to provide "relevant editorial content, news, entertainment, community and information about Latino-focused products." Interesting special reports available on their "news" pages. Available in English or Spanish.

Latino USA: the radio journal of news and culture. http://www.latinousa.org
Latino USA is an English-language radio program covering Latino news and culture. You can listen to the weekly programs (with RealPlayer); some interesting Learning Resources are also provided on the site.
